Cultists stab man in the face, remove tooth

Some cultists on Ladi-lak Street in the Bariga area of Lagos State have stabbed a man, Ogunaike Oluwafemi, in the face and removed his tooth.

The incident occurred on July 26, 2015.

The cultists, who were named as Kazeem Lawal, Lateef and Elede, were reportedly members of Aiye Confraternity.

It was learnt that on the day of the incident, Ogunaike saw the boys attacking another victim.

When Ogunaike intevened, the gang pounced on him.

He was stabbed with a broken bottle in the face, while his tooth was removed.

Lawal was later arrested and arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Yaba, Lagos, on three counts.

The charges read in part, “That you, Kazeem Lawal, and others at large, on July 26, 2015, at about 10pm on Onabola Street, in Ladi-Lak, Bariga, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did cause a grievous harm to one Ogunaike Oluwafemi, by stabbing him with a broken bottle in his face and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Lawal pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Mr. P. A. Ojo, admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000. The matter was adjourned till September 13, 2015.
